(WXYZ) - Kroger says that due to significant growth in Michigan, the company plans to hire 2,000 new associates over the next 15 to 18 month.
While most of the new jobs will be part-time, the company does plan on hiring at least 85 new full-time, salaried store management associates during the next 18 months.
The hiring comes on the heals of Kroger's investment of $380 million in Michigan over the last five years as part of a capital improvement campaign.
The company plans on investing more than $110 million in Michigan in 2013. This includes the opening of two new stores - a store in Commerce will open in November and a store in Hayes Township will open in January 2014.
Kroger also plans to remodel or expand a number of its Michigan stores.
Kroger revealed their plans during the annual shareholders meeting last week.
