WXYZ - If your next family vacation has you getting behind the wheel, you may be thinking rental car.
But before you hit the road, consumer reporter Joanne Purtan has a look at some of those hidden fees.
When you book an airline ticket, airlines are now required to disclose all extra fees up front, so there are no surprises.

One great way to save is to see if there's a free shuttle service from the airport.
You can also rent at a downtown or hotel location, rather than at the airport.
You won't have to pay airport fees and taxes, which can be up to $20 a day in some areas.
