The backlash is growing.
With more and more big retailers planning to open their doors on Thanksgiving day this year, more and more shoppers are saying its gone too far.
And they want their holiday back.
But will it accomplish anything? A new survey finds that
33 million people plan to shop on Thanksgiving evening, a quarter of all shoppers that weekend.

Lindsey Giglia and her family enjoy shopping at
Kmart for bargains.
But this bargain shopper says she's not going to visit the store on Thanksgiving day... even though it will open at
6 a.m., and stay open for 41 hours straight.
"I think that's terrible,"she said."They should give people Thanksgiving off, and open up at either midnight or 6 a.m. Friday like year's past."
Kmart is not the only store moving Black Friday to Thursday this year, it's just the earliest.
Toys R Us will open its doors at
5 p.m., meaning for the best deals you'll need to line up by 2 or 3 p.m, during dinner time.
Best Buy and
Walmart will kick off their sales at
And most major department stores, including
Target, Macy's, Kohl's, Sears, and JC Penney, will open at
At least you can eat a rushed dinner in that case.
But Anna Miller and Sadie Brunner say they are all starting too early. "If you want to open at 10:00, 11:00, midnight, that's fine, but I think that's a little much," Miller said.
"I think people need to spend time with their family, let everyone have a break," Brunner said.
Petition Drives Underway
So many people are upset that petition drives against the early Black Friday are popping up on sites like
But stores say its due to shopper demand. And if the shoppers line up, they will do it again next year.
Bottom line: Don't like it, don't shop. With the exception of a few laptops and big screen TV's, you should be able to find most of those Thursday night deals at a later date.... or online.
That way you don't ruin your holiday and you don't waste your money.
