(WXYZ) - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced today Office Depot is recalling 1.4 million office chairs.
The company is recalling their Office Depot Gibson Leather Task Chairs because the mounting plate weld can break and separate the seat from the base of the chair, posing a fall hazard to consumers.
They are the black, armless, adjustable chairs have a black base with five wheels. The SKU number is 105479.
Office Depot has received 153 reports of the seat plate weld cracking or breaking, including 25 reports of injuries, including one where a person broke their back and hip.
Anyone with a bad chair should stop using it and return it to any Office Depot store for a store credit.
The chairs were sold exclusively at Office Depot online and in store from 2003-2012.
