Body Found at Luna Pier

LUNA PIER, Mich. (WXYZ) - A body has been found on the shoreline of Lake Erie near the city of Luna Pier.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office reports a man kayaking with his sons made the discovery Thursday afternoon around 5 p.m. on the shoreline south of Toledo Beach Marina.

About two hours later, police agencies from Monroe County, Luna Pier and Michigan Department of Natural Resources recovered the body of a white male who appears to have been between 40 and 60 years old. He had a light colored beard and was wearing dark colored "Big Mac" workwear pants with a brown belt. He had on size 9 Reebok DMX tennis shoes with grey "ACTI TRED" anti slip socks.

The sheriff's office is requesting any assistance in identifying the body. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Monroe County Sheriff's Office at 734-243-7070.
