Last Update: 10/21/2009 10:01 am
GREEN OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - Authorities are investigating a deadly crash on U.S. 23 between Silver Lake and Lee Roads.

Investigators say a tanker truck and a car traveling on the southbound side of the road Tuesday evening collided, sending the car into the northbound lane of U.S. 23. The car flipped over and hit an oncoming car and another tanker.

The cars each carried one person. One driver was airlifted to University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor in serious condition; the other driver was a 19-year-old woman who was pronounced dead at the scene. The two semi-truck drivers were not injured.

One of the tankers was carrying apple juice; the other was hauling gasoline. There was a minor leak to the gas tanker, but it was quickly contained.
