The school security would have treated the student the same way as the teacher. However in a school district that have very little funds, there is not enough security. So the teacher did what he was supposed to do. It is not mentioned that student was not supposed to be in school at this time because of discipline issues. Plus, the student was told to stay away from this teacher's classroom, which is where all this took place by. Also, you have gaps in the coverage of the video survalance, which does not show him disrupting his class multiple times during a single day. Lastly, you forget this is the same school district in which a teacher was almost killed by the negelect of the school district admitting a student who has previous history of violence. They have done a few things to improve security, however if you think that a school district facing a massive financial crisis can staff the kind of security needed for a district that has many students with P.O.'s and tethers, you have no sense. What we should be asking is, why can't the student follow directions from adults? When did the world start adjusting to the kids, instead of the kids adjust to the rules of the world?

Would you want a teacher like him teaching your kids? No I wouldn't he had no business touching that kid. Hes probably done this to other students but this time he got caught. I suggest he find another job and I hope he doesn't get a plea deal, let him do some time in jail.

I apologized I was wrong about that teacher, video showed the proof, he is agressive toward a young man who was not agressive toward him. Even if words were said, he should have control over himself

Not Guilty, I don't appreciate being called ignorant. I've looked over the clip in regular and full screen modes several times. The worst I did was call this kid a disrespectful brat. That was proven when he flipped off the teacher. That's the behavior of a Disrespectful Brat. So the kid earned that title. If you actually stopped foaming at the mouth long enough to read my posts, you would see that I have made statements both for and against both parties, based on the only evidence we, as viewers of the clip, have. Didn't you see about 4 posts down, where I was suspicious of what was going on with the teacher when the video went from a crowded hallway with a small altercation, then all of a sudden there's a chunk of time and video missing, then the teacher comes back, in an emptied hallway to grab the kid? Pay attention. Follow along with the rest of us. Try to keep up... Geez.

Cmon, we all went to highschool. The punk kid harasses the teacher until the teacher loses his cool and retaliates. I kinda like it. Let's not pretend this is complicated.

When I went to school there was a big paddle in the gym. I never saw it used on anybody but that was a time when IF you were punished by the school you faced a bigger penalty at home from your parents. It made you respect people in authority, which is something that very few kids learn today. My parents took a belt to my behind, I spanked my kid when he did something bad, he lived too. Of course, that was back when parents could be parents and discipline kids. Today criminals have rights, victims don't. Parents don't have rights, children do. Then we get a generation of out of control kids who have no fear of authority until they kill somebody, then they blame the parents for being too strict. Where does it end? In my generation we had to show respect for our teachers, we didn't talk back, and certainly didn't flip the finger to them. From what I see the kid does not have any respect and it should reflect on the parents. I probably would have got to my limit with him too. He appears to be a cocky smart-ass, and the teacher decided to take him down a peg because his parents wouldn't/couldn't.

Emeilystrange,peppino,visions58 and the rest of you clearly ignorant people....evidentually the kid not punk has more respect than all of you miserable people, he had enough since regardless of what to walk away. At first, he was a thug, a delinquent and a disrespectful a**hole and etc. now he's just been bumped down to a punk...NICE!! Regardless of it all the teacher should not have touched him an any way!! The kid was clearly trying to get way from this crazy teacher, but at first he was the attacker...remember? Unless you are blind it shows that the teacher stopped and was confrontational to the kid. What you wanted to see was the kid fighting the teacher but what you do see is him walking away. If he would have attacked the teacher or fought the the teacher at any point he would have gotten arrested. The only one who got arrested was the teacher. Why isn't the SCHOOL DISTRICT NOT THE UNION REP supporting this teacher IF HE DID NOTHING WRONG. Regardless of what you ignorant people want to believe Not all kids in Pontiac are bad seems to me he did the right thing by walking away to he showed more respect thant the teacher. Oh.. evidently the courts and police who are the ultimate authorities in this matter felt Mr. Thompson was wrong. If they hadn't you wouldn't have anything to sit on your a** talk about. Let the courts play this out people!! and learn to be respectful and leaders yourselves because all of this mess is not showing ANY kinda respect to this kid nor his family. I'm gonna pray for you all!!!! And ask God to for give you for your IGNORANCE AND PREJUDICE!!!!

Full screen mode doesn't even help see it any better. It just turns the image into big ole useless pixels. At about the :15/:16 mark, you can see the kid flip off the teacher and probably say something that makes the teacher turn around and push him into the window. But then, after the hallways are cleared, it seems the teacher comes back to get the kid and drag him out. I wonder what's going on in the missing scenes that they're not showing us, in between the full hallway, flip off, teacher pushes him, until the empty hallway, teacher comes back and grabs the kid...

emilystrange I had to rewatch the vid. I will say that it appears that it might be true that he flipped off the teacher. Your eyes are clearly better than mine. But even if that is true the teacher had already pushed him and walked away. So why would he walk up behind the kid and immediately put his hands on the kid. All I'm saying is this teacher will never gain the respect of these kids by abusing them. If they can't respect him then he becomes an ineffective teacher no matter how good he is.

Oldsoul80, I kinda assumed the kids was a disrespectful brat when I saw him flip off the teacher in the video clip. When I was in 8th grade in the 80s, I was grabbed by the back of my shirt collar and dragged to the principal's office for joking around with a girl about cooties. She handed me a book, and I said, "I don't want it now, it's got yer cooties on it!.... Aww, I'm just kiddin." The principal threw me into a chair and called my mom. My mother said she expected to hear that I had called someone a mofo or bytch. She could hardly contain her laughter at the principal when she found out that that I had used the horrible "cooties" word. So, with all the physical manhandling the male principal was doing to me, a 100lb girl, over cooties, image what would have happened if I'd flipped a teacher off and said something derogatory. I probably would have received broken bones.
