DETROIT (WXYZ) - Police say it was jealousy that prompted a knife attack outside a local club, an attack so severe the victim needed nearly a hundred stitches.
Latonya Rincher, 39, is locked up and could face up to life behind bars. Police and prosecutors say very early on Sunday morning just outside the El Capri Lounge on East Grand Boulevard, Rincher slashed a woman in the face, from her forehead down her cheek and to her neck, with a knife. She also cut the victim's sister in the ear.
The most serious injury took 80 stitches, and that's why Rincher is charged with assault with intent to murder. Police say she came to the club angry because her ex-boyfriend was dating someone new. That 35-year-old woman, say police, was the target of Rincher's attack.
