(WXYZ) - Washtenaw County health officials have confirmed two deaths related to the flu.
Washtenaw County public health officials say both patients were over the age of 65 and had severe underlying health conditions.
When 7 Action News spoke to Dr. Anu Malani with St. Joseph Mercy in Ann Arbor on Wednesday, the hospital had seen 60 cases of flu-related hospitalizations this season, more than 20 cases this week alone and more than 200 lab-confirmed cases, according to the Washtenaw County Health Department.
With these confirmed deaths, doctors are emphasizing once again the importance of getting flu vaccines. Even for healthy young adults in that 18-49 age range.
