22 Michiganders arrested in national crackdown on synthetic K2 drug

(WXYZ) - More than 150 people are behind bars right now, including nearly two dozen right here in metro Detroit, as part of a national crackdown on K2 synthetic drugs.

It's all a part of a federal operation called 'Project Synergy 2.'

As of yesterday, search warrants have been issued in at least 25 states. Those warrants have turned up $20 million in cash and assets.

Locally, 22 people were arrested in Macomb and Oakland counties, 20 of them on federal charges.

The numbers are expected to grow as the investigation continues.
