DETROIT (WXYZ) - Belle Isle Park hosted around 30,000 8 to 15 year olds for the 32nd Annual Metro Detroit Youth Day Wednesday.
The free event features hands-on and engaging activities.
Some of these activities include Michigan State University's robotic fish, a build your own road activity, aluminum boat build, bottle rockets and more.
More than 100 scholarships are given out to recent high school graduates as well.
"Metro Detroit Youth Day is all about inspiring our youth to lead us in the future,"co-founder and chairman of Metro Detroit Youth Day Ed Deeb said. "We are proud to recognize our youth for outstanding community and academic achievements and support them as they prepare for higher education."
More than 1,600 volunteers from 340 organizations and 240 businesses and civic group come together to provide a helping hand for the day's festivities.
The event takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
