RIVER ROUGE, Mich. (WXYZ) - Jannie Jackson didn't know what she would do when a fire ripped through the second floor of her River Rouge home.
She is a single mother of nine who is a full-time student. She had just dropped her insurance because she didn't have enough money after paying higher heating bills this winter.
However, River Rouge Fire Marshall Roberto Cruz was so touched by her family that he reached out to Channel 7 looking for help.
We showed the Jackson story on Channel 7 a few weeks ago and Belfor Construction stepped up to help secure the home by taking care of windows and siding as well as some construction in the home.
Also, St. Vincent de Paul got involved offering Jannie a shopping spree at one of their thrift stores. She will get brand new beds, clothes and many other items to help make things more normal in their life.
Other individuals have also offered the family help. Their is still work that needs to he done inside the home however, it is safe and Jannie's family can stay together, not having to worry about where they will sleep.
We thank Belfor and St. Vincent de Paul for their generous help!
