MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich (WXYZ) - A case years in the making, all centered around a book on slavery, has just been tossed out by a Macomb County judge.
Jamey Petree filed the lawsuit against Warren Consolidated Schools in 2010.
He claims his daughter's civil rights were violated when her fifth grade teacher read aloud from a book, "From Slave Ship to Freedom Road".
The lawsuit claimed racial bias and harassment.
Yesterday, Judge John Foster disagreed and tossed out the case.
An appeal is expected.
