(WXYZ) - Kichler Lighting has issued a recall for roughly 48,900 chandeliers sold at Lowe's stores.
Aztec nine-light chandeliers sold exclusively at Lowe's stores nationwide under the Portfolio brand name from July 2006 through August 2011 are the items being recalled. "Aztec" and model number 34330 are printed on a sticker located inside the ceiling canopy at the top of the chandelier.
A press release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Kichler Lighting has had six reports of the chandeliers falling from the ceiling after the fixture loop connecting the hanging chain to the lamp failed. No injuries have been reported, however there has been approximately $6,000 in property damage.
To avoid injury, consumers should not allow people to go in the immediate area under the chandeliers and should contact Kichler for information on how to obtain a free repair kit or receive a replacement for fallen chandeliers.
