(WXYZ) - 7 Action News has learned that the missing 5-year-old has been found dead in a car in Port Huron.
Police say an initial investigation of the scene did not indicate foul play. They believe the child, Derrick Holmon, may have climbed into the vehicle and overheated.
We're told Derrick was found lying face down in the back seat. Family members believe he was somehow able to open the door.
The boy's death is still under investigation.
Earlier Friday, an Amber Alert was issued for Derrick.
The boy had Down syndrome and was diagnosed with a heart condition.
Holmon was last seen around 8:30 a.m. near the area of 26th and Manuel Street on the south side of Port Huron.
"He has wonderful parents, they love him so much," said Derrick's grandfather Don McCullough.
