LAS VEGAS (WXYZ) -
Viva Las Vegas--and Coney Dogs.
American Coney Island celebrated the grand opening of its first out-of-state location Wednesday at the D Hotel in Las Vegas.
"American Coney Island is such an iconic food staple in Detroit and there is a reason that Detroiters are so crazy about it," said Derek Stevens, owner and CEO of the D Las Vegas, in a statement. "We're excited to introduce our guests to the classic combination of chili, mustard and onion from restaurateurs that have been perfecting the famous Coney Dog for nearly 100 years."
Grace Keros, the restaurant's owner, says the new location will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, giving casino goers an opportunity for some Detroit cuisine at any time.
"They approached me," says Keros. "They wanted the flavors and tastes of Detroit."
The D Hotel was Fitzgeralds, but it was revamped and rebranded in an effort to rebuild downtown Las Vegas.
