Three American Flags on display in front of homes were torched during the overnight hours this week on Colpaert Dr. and Jenny St. in Warren.

There’s nothing to indicate this was targeting people based on race or religion or some other form of hate.

Warren Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.

One flag was on the home of a senior couple. Myron Georges said she was scared and shocked that this happened to her.

"My husband was a veteran. We fly the flag all the time. Shame on them, if you’re not proud of it why are you here?” said neighbor Arlene Sliwa.

Sliwa's friend Mary Olekszyk said, “I would ask then what do you feel or are you against, not just the flag but our country? What are you upset about?”

Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said it is senseless.

“I guess, unfortunately, this country is in a state of whatever you want to call it,” he said.
