Answers sought in cold case murder of Wayne State University Tiane Brown

A cold case murder mystery in Metro Detroit left a community shocked and stunned when 33-year-old Wayne State University law student Tiane Brown is murdered after taking an exam.

There was an extensive search, multiple law enforcement agencies were involved. Family, friends and colleagues joined in the search as well.

It was two days before they would find out what happened to Tiane. 

Tiane was a daughter, mother, loyal friend, an accomplished woman. A kind and generous person, who would give a stranger, her last.

So why was Tiane was found shot to death in her SUV, near the Packard Plant? Who would want this devoted Metro Detroiter dead?

Tiane’s loved ones and police want to know.

It’s been 4 years and no one has been arrested, charged or convicted in connection to this homicide.

Tiane’s mother Dr. Sheryl Jones prays every day for justice. However, she says, it’s been so long and the waiting is hard.

“Sometimes I wonder will I still be alive,” Jones says sadly.

“I’ve heard that from her as well. It hurts my heart as well. It hurts my heart to look into her eyes and see and hear her say that,”  says Detective Richard Houser with the Detroit Police Department, Homicide Division 

Houser is is working tirelessly to solve this case. He tells, our Andrea Isom they narrowed down suspects. Tips and leads are still coming into the department.

“They have slowed down since 2013 but they are still coming in. We need more,” Houser tells 7 Action News.

Tiane has three daughters who desperately miss their mother.
