Ann Arbor police are searching for a suspect who robbed a cookie shop while wearing an "old man" Halloween costume.

According to police, the suspect entered Insomnia Cookies on University Avenue around 2:45 a.m. Friday morning.

The suspect reportedly showed a gun and demanded that employees to open the cash register. He pushed the register off of the counter, according to police.

Police say he threatened to "start shooting within 10 seconds" if employees didn't comply with his demands.

The register was damaged when it hit the floor and employees could not get it open to access the cash. The suspect took off. A K-9 was not able to track the suspect.

None of the employees were injured. The person was described as a white man, 5/6" wearing an "old man" style Halloween mask, dark-colored hoodie and khaki pants.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video at this time. If you have any information on the crime, you're asked to call Ann Arbor Police at 734-794-6930 or email tips@a2gov.org
