St. Clair Shores police are investigating an attempted kidnapping and sexual assault of a teen girl on her way to school Monday morning.

According to police, the 16-year-old told police that she was walking to school in the 25000 block of Cubberness around 6:45 a.m. That's near 10 Mile and Little Mack.

She told police a man driving a pickup truck stopped and asked her for directions. He then got out of the truck, grabbed her by the neck and pushed her into the driver's side of the truck. He drove away and began to sexually assault the teen, but she fought back, got out and ran. She was uninjured.

Police are searching for the suspect, described as a black male in his 20s, 5-feet-3, 140 pounds, clean shaven, short dreads or braids, wearing a dark hoodie, dark sweatpants and a Seattle Seahawks beanie.

His truck is described as a dark gray or black Ram 4-door pickup with chrome wheels and chrome sidesteps.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
