(WXYZ) - Detroit Police say they are investigating an incident at a junior high basketball game at Winan's Academy of Performing Arts on the city's east side.
Police say two people, a man and woman, assaulted the referee because they were upset over a call he made. He was treated at the scene and released.
Police are now trying to find out who attacked the referee.
People in attendance said the game was in the second quarter when the incident happened. The referee apparently called a technical foul and that angered parents from the other team.
After the assault, the rest of the game was canceled.
