Berkley City Council votes down Vinsetta Garage parking plan

(WXYZ) - Monday night was the third and final stand for the neighbors along Oxford Street against Vinsetta Garage, a vintage auto-shop turned bar and restaurant along Woodward Avenue.

After two city planning board meetings with public comments, planners made a recommendation to deny the houses be rezoned from residential to a parking lot and passed the matter on to the city council--which decided the fate.

Vinsetta’s owner Curt Catallo stated his need for parking for his patrons and 165 employees and planned to build a parking lot after his company purchased four homes with plans to demolish them.

The residents who have complained of traffic congestion, noise and lack of safety objected, and won.
