Two area businesses are teaming up to help get bikes to local students in need.

The Shirt Box in Farmington Hills and Kenny's Lakes Area Auto Experts in Walled Lake are holding a bike drive at their businesses on Saturday September 12. The donations will go to Back Alley Bikes based in Detroit. The BAB is a community bike shop that equips children with bicycles through their Earn a Bike program. They also donate cool rides to children under 10 years old.

We're told the two businesses have already received 100 bikes.

“We cannot thank The Shirt Box and Kenny’s Lakes Area Auto Experts enough for hosting this bike drive,” said Mari Anzicek, operations and communications manager, Back Alley Bikes. “Everyday we get to see how youth are not only transformed by having their own bicycle but also through learning the skills needed to maintain them.  I know many students in Detroit will be extremely thankful for the donations.”

The drive at The Shirt Box located at 32500 Northwestern Hwy. will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The drive at Kenny's Lakes Area Auto Experts located at 490 Pontiac Trail will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
