(WXYZ) - The 7 Action News team has learned that Detroit Mayor Dave Bing and Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr will discuss a contract and terms for a new police chief this week and could then make the job offer to Cincinnati Police Chief James Craig.
Craig talked about his possible move on Monday to reporters in his city and on a call in radio show in Cincinnati.
He says he has no job offer yet and would not discuss terms including job security.
Detroit and Cincinnati offer different challenges. Detroit Police have taken pay cuts, they've been working 12 hour shifts to cut overtime and routine calls do not get routine response times.
Craig says he has no fears about coming to Detroit.
He started his career in Detroit until he was laid off in 1981 and then moved to Los Angeles.
