(WXYZ) - Grosse Pointe Park businessman Bob Bashara is already serving time after being convicted of plotting to kill handyman Joe Gentz, but he could be locked up for the rest of his life.
Bashara is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Jane. The 56-year-old marketing executive was found strangled in the back of her luxury SUV in January, 2012. Gentz was convicted for her murder, but says Bob hired him to do it and threatened to kill him if he didn't go through with the murder.
Bob Bashara is scheduled to be in Wayne Circuit Court Monday before 36th District Court Judge Kenneth King for a preliminary hearing. Action news has learned his alternative sex life is expected to be a component in the trial. During the murder investigation, it was discovered Bashara was involved in the BDSM lifestyle.
BDSM stands for bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism.
T hrough blog posts, Action News Investigators learned Basharawas planning to buy a home in Grosse Pointe Park to share with his then mistress Rachael Gillett and another woman from Oregon.
On Friday night, the attorney for the other woman is talking with Action News.
"I believe at some time she will be called to testify," said attorney David Draper. "I think she will be a person that both sides would like to talk to and find out what she knows about the case."
Draper isn't going public with his client's name yet, but says she is a successful and independent woman. She met Bashara through the internet.
Bashara's preliminary exam is expected to take at least a week. If he is found guilty, Bashara could be sentenced to life in prison.
