(WXYZ) - A jury has just found Bobby Ferguson not guilty on gun charges that were originally part of a large bid-rigging case.
The former city contractor is already serving 21 years in federal prison after he was convicted of RICO and extortion in the Kilpatrick Corruption Case.
In 2012, a jury deadlocked on the bid rigging case against Ferguson for his role in redeveloping the Garden View Estates housing project.
Federal prosecutors dropped all of their charges except for gun charges to streamline the case. FBI agents say they seized three weapons from Ferguson’s properties. Ferguson is a felon and can not possess guns.
After less than a week of the re-trial, the new jury found Ferguson not guilty for two of the charges, and there was a mistrial on the third-- which involved a shotgun.
Ferguson’s lawyers Mike Rataj and David Steingold say they are grateful for the jury’s service.
