Bootleggers caught filming movies in Clinton Township

(WXYZ) - Bootleggers can rob Hollywood of millions in lost profits.

A hired gun has been in metro Detroit to catch some of the thieves. He lowered the curtain on their production Sunday night at a Clinton Township movie theater.

Two men were arrested with a video camera trying to record the new release Gravity.  A Hollywood private investigator then called police who made the arrest.  The PI wanted to catch them in the act.

He also told local police they've recorded other movies at the AMC Star Gratiot because a watermark shows up on their bootleg video when they post it on the internet.

The two men posted a $500 bail and have been released while they still gather evidence against them.  They could be charged with a one year misdemeanor or more.
