Campus Martius Park opens for sneak peek holiday ice skating

DETROIT (WXYZ) - The rink at Campus Martius Park will open to the public for a weekend of pre-season skating Friday, November 9 through Sunday, November 11, before the Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony marks the official opening of the rink on November 16.

The spectacular rink at Campus Martius Park is larger than the internationally renowned rink at Rockefeller Center in New York City. It features surround-sound music and color-changing lighting for recreational skating enthusiasts plus a skate house to rent and change skates.

Rink-side, the Fountain Bistro and Arctic Zone Concessions will provide options for both formal and casual dining experiences. There will also be a variety of beverages; from a full bar at the Bistro to hot chocolate in the concession stand.

The rink hours for this special event are as follows:

Friday (Nov. 9) 5 p.m. - midnight

Saturday (Nov. 10) 10 a.m. - midnight

Sunday (Nov. 11) Noon - 8 p.m.

The costs to skate at the rink are as follows:

Adults (13-49) $7

Seniors (50+) $6

Children (12 and under) $6

Skate rental $3
