Charges dropped against driver involved in L. Brooks Patterson crash

(WXYZ) - Charges against the man who allegedly caused the crash involving Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson have been dropped, according to his lawyer.

Anthony Prainito, the driver of the other vehicle, was cited for failing to yield while turning left in front of Patterson's car. He had been charged with three counts of "Moving Violation Causing Serious Impairment of Bodily Function."

Patterson and his driver, James Cram, were injured on August 10, 2012, when their car was hit by another driver.

The crash investigation revealed that neither Patterson nor Cram, were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Patterson suffered various injuries in the crash, including broken bones and spent months recovering at various rehabilitation facilities and at home.


The Oakland County Executive returned to work in late October.  He was re-elected in November.
