CLINTON TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) - The Chippewa Valley football team held its 3rd annual Military Night on Friday, dedicating their game to all active, retired and deceased military personnel.
The school has raised $10,000 over the past two years for the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps injured service members.
"The Wounded Warrior Project... can't do it without everybody in the community and here at Chippewa, so we're really thankful to have everybody come out and support us," said Specialist Mason Turrell.
Turrell is a former Chippewa Valley football player and is currently stationed in Georgia after spending a year in Iraq. He attended the game on Friday to route for his home team.
"It definitely makes a difference, especially for the families and the kids and the soldiers," said Mason's wife Jessica Turrell, speaking about the project and Chippewa's participation.
