The city of Warren will unveil its first new library in Warren today.

The Busch Library Branch closed down as a smaller library with an old vacant home nearby, now it re-opens as a state-of-the art “shot-in-the-arm” for its community. The library is located on 9 Mile Road across from Fitzgerald High School.

“This new branch library represents our administration’s commitment to rejuvenating our older neighborhoods,” said Warren Mayor Jim Fouts.

Another new library is planned for the 9-Mile-Van Dyke neighborhood. Soon a mini-city hall, mini-police station and new fire station will joins it in a new city complex.

According to Fouts, the city is working to makeover older neighborhoods, and boost the areas for residents.

Stephanie Sanders, who lives near the all-new Busch Library branch, said it’s working. She was out for a walk with her kids the day before the opening trying to get a look at the library ahead of it’s opening. She said her kids can’t wait until it’s open.

“You’re going to have people coming from farther neighborhoods to enjoy it,” said Sanders. “It’ll be exciting.”

The official opening takes place at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The new library includes the following features: 6,640 sq. ft. facility with LED lighting; 50-person community room with 36 computer access points; adult computer area with 24 computers; a four to six-person study room with four computer access points and WiFi connection.
