The White House organizes Cobo Center forum, aims to help small businesses revive in economy

DETROIT - Helping small businesses grow to revive the economy! That was the focus of a White House economic forum held at Cobo Center Thursday.

The Urban Economic Forum is the seventh such forum held in large cities around the country. 7 Action News Anchor Stephen Clark served as moderator of the forum with Mayor Dave Bing.

Cecilia Munoz from the White House Domestic Policy Council talked with 7 Action News about the goals for the  event. The Administration is committed to supporting the area's small businesses, and the forum provides participants with the knowledge, resources, and networks vital to growing their businesses, and expanding into new industries that will create an economy built to last.

"This is all about economic growth. We have an economy now, that for 26 straight months has been creating jobs and we know how you create jobs, it's through small businesses."

The event, organized by the White House, consisted of workshops on how to better network, retain talent and best partner with local and the federal government.
