(WXYZ) - Comedy Central comedian Stephen Colbert is taking shots at Detroit once again.
On his February 19 taping of "The Colbert Report," Colbert poked fun at the Motor City.
"Sure, sure we all know the Motor City has seen better days, like during the Ice Age," said Colbert.
The focus quickly turned to Belle Isle.
"Belle Isle a thousand-acre island and public park that many consider the jewel of Detroit. And it's no surprise. Belle means beautiful and Isle means not connected to Detroit," said Colbert.
Colbert then mocked businessman Rod Lockwood's idea to buy the island from Detroit and convert it into an independent commonwealth where residents wouldn't pay any corporate or income taxes.
"What that city needs is a pristine private island they can see from the bars of their postindustrial hellscape," said Colbert.
You can watch the full segment in the video below. Detroit's mention is about five minutes into the video.
This definitely isn't the first time Colbert has taken shots at Detroit. In fact, a local group started a grass roots effort on Facebook to convince Colbert to venture to the Motor City to check it out for himself.
Their page is called "Colbert Does Detroit (and so can you)" –and they're fan base has garnered nearly 4,000 *likes* after it was created in September.
