MIRAMAR, Fla. - Rapper Trick Daddy was arrested Thursday on a variety of drug and weapons charges outside of his Miramar home. When deputies approached him, he asked if it was regarding child support payments.
Members of the Broward County Drug Task Force began surveillance on a home in the 1600 block of S.W. 19th Street at 9:30 Thursday morning in reference to a pending "sniff" warrant at the residence.
Around 10 a.m. deputies saw Maurice Young, also known as Trick Daddy, exit the home and back out of the driveway in a green four-door coupe.
Deputies asked Young to get out and Young complied, according to the arrest report.
Deputies say Young admitted his license was suspended and asked if the stop was in reference to child support payments. Deputies informed him it concerned drugs.
According to deputies, Young said he had some cocaine and "maybe a marijuana roaches, but no grow house."
Once deputies went into the home, they retrieved 1 gram of cocaine from a nightstand and a 9mm Sig Sauer gun under a pillow on a nearby bed. There was also ammunition in a closet. Young is a convicted felon, making it illegal for him to possess weapons.
Young faces the following charges: Possession of firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammo by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, and driving on a suspended license.
