CVS stores no longer selling cigarettes, tobacco products

(WXYZ) - CVS Pharmacy announced today that it will stop selling cigarettes and all other tobacco products in its stores.

CVS has over 7,600 pharmacy stores nationwide, and CVS said it makes them the first national pharmacy chain to take tobacco products off  the shelves.

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius praised CVS for their help in making the next generation tobacco free.

The stores hope to have all tobacco products removed from their shelves by October 1.
