GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Davenport University says it plans to offer an employment guarantee for all accounting students.
School officials announced Wednesday that Davenport will provide additional semesters of education for accounting students who are unable to find work in their field of study within six months of graduation.
Davenport President Richard Pappas says the employment guarantee "isn't a gimmick" and that the school is "putting its money where its mouth is."
To be eligible, students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in their major and overall; complete an internship and other experiential learning components; be eligible for legal employment in the U.S.; and conduct a thorough, documented job search.
Grand Rapids-based Davenport has nearly 10,000 students at campuses across Michigan and online.
