(WXYZ) - If your kids are struggling to stay in shape, you may be able to blame daycare.
A new study finds kids who were placed in daycare until they were four years old were 50 percent more likely to be overweight at the age of 10 compared to kids who were cared for by a parent.
The study was published in the Journal of Pediatrics.
Researchers followed more than 1,600 families for about a decade and kept track of each child's Body Mass Index.
The study did not look at why children in daycare were more likely to become overweight but researchers say it may have something to do with lack of exercise during daycare hours and diet.
