With the quick rise in popularity of the game Pokemon Go, members of law enforcement are issuing a warning for parents.

They say child predators are now seeing the interactive game, as a potential way to get closer to kids.

Part of the game's appeal is that it encourages kids of all ages to visit public parks or downtown areas, where many people often congregate.

Sgt. Pam McLean who runs the Macomb Area Computer Enforcement Team, says the best thing to do is to always be with your kids.

In addition, deputies are stepping up patrols and state lawmakers are looking into possible bills that could prevent sex offenders on parole from downloading the app.

Similar legislation designed to keep kids safe was introduced in New York State and backed by their Governor.
