ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WXYZ) - The Detroit EMS is being honored Saturday night at their annual Detroit EMS Honors Night.
On the Detroit Medic POAM Facebook page, they wrote "We are very proud of the men and women who have been on the frontlines for over four decades."
They also said they have been discounted and forgotten by the city of Detroit and the Detroit Fire Department.
The medics will be honored by the Police Offices Association of Michigan, and 7 Action News reporter Ronnie Dahl is the emcee for the ceremony.
Paramedic Joe Hardman is this years recipient of the William Garlington Memorial Award of Honor/Valor, who suffered a heart attack, while giving CPR to a man who also had a heart attack in August.
Also, the Detroit EMS Cup of Honor is back and put back together after it was returned broken and destroyed. Paramedic Jamie Ryder and EMT Matt Miller Jr. are the recipients of the EMS Cup of Honor, after they refused to leave a patient's side until they were treated correctly.
