A Detroit man is accused of Felony Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First and Second Degree for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy.
According to Hazel Park Police, 48-year-old Glenn Norton had been committing the crime between June 2013 to December 2013.
"He was a friend of the family and he would pick the child up and take him to karate class where he would isolate the boy and commit sexual acts," said Hazel Park Police Chief Marty Barner.
Norton was a karate instructor at Koei-Kan karate club in Hazel Park.
"We also learned through the investigation that this individual is a home health care nurse for disabled children and was also a ICU pediatric nurse at an area hospital," said Chief Barner.
Police are looking into whether there were any other cases at Norton's places of employment.
As their investigation continues, police told 7 Action News they are not naming the places Norton worked.
According to neighbors, Norton is married and has adult children.
"It's surprising," said an unidentified neighbor. "It was very surprising to me. If something like that I feel terrible. " tell you I known him since he was a teenager about 18 or what ever. My little girls did grow up here and where around him. I talked with him. I thought he was a gentleman. Didn't know he would do something like that."
Norton is now in the Oakland County jail on $1,000,000 bond cash or surety.
Chief Barner told 7 Action News this case is still under investigation.
It is not clear whether there are any other victims.
