(WXYZ) - Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan has endorsed Warren Evans for Wayne County Executive, not Bill Wild.
So, one might ask why Duggan’s smiling face is next to Wild’s on the candidate’s recent campaign literature? Wild said he wasn’t trying to fool anyone.
“There’s actually a disclaimer on it just in case there was some sort of confusion,” Wild said. “What I was trying to imply here is just like I imply on the front doors of everybody’s house I knock on, is that, I’m the type of guy that’s going to work with Mayor Mike Duggan."
Despite the explanation, Duggan wrote a letter to ask that Wild stop using his image.
In his literature Wild takes credit for making improvements in Westland, which he has served for seven years. He told 7 Action News he would do the same as county executive.
“The Wayne County Executive has got to work with the Mayor of Detroit,” said Wild. "I do believe that there’s this moment in time where we can bring Detroit back. And if we can bring the county back, it’s going to require Wayne County and Detroit working hand-in-hand.”
Wild is one of five candidates for the position currently held by Robert Ficano. The primary is August 5.
