(WXYZ) - Detroit Police tell 7 Action News that Kevin Washington, the father of two young boys killed in a house fire last week, has been taken into custody.
We're told Kevin Washington, 36, was arrested on at least one outstanding felony warrant on an unrelated case.
Shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday, Detroit Firefighters were dispatched to the report of a house fire on the 16000 block of Prairie near McNichols and Livernois.
he father of the two boys said he went to a neighbor's house for ten minutes. When he came out, the house was on fire. However, the neighbor said the father of the boys was gone for approximately 30 minutes.
A witness told the dad he saw two men throw something through a window into the home prior to the fire. The men fled in a black Ford F-150.
The children were pulled out of the home by firefighters and given CPR before they were transported to Sinai Grace Hospital and Children's Hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
While police are treating this as a possible arson, we're told space heaters were used in the home and authorities aren't ruling out any possibilities.
