(WXYZ) - The Detroit Police Department has identified the two officers who were shot in an incident on the city's west side last week.
According to police, officer Patrick Hill remains at the hospital in critical condition. Sergeant Jeffrey Pacholski is still recovering, but was released from the hospital several days ago.
The suspect officers were chasing was killed in the shoot-out.
Detroit Police Department Chief Chester Logan issued the following statement Tuesday night:
"On behalf of the Detroit Police Department, I wish to thank the citizens of Detroit and the metropolitan area for their prayers and support for the two injured police officers. Also, I wish to thank the media outlets that honored our request not to release the officers' names and respecting their families' privacy.
Sergeant Jeffrey Pacholski, who was released from the hospital several days ago, is still recovering. Police Officer Patrick Hill is still hospitalized in critical condition.
Even though the officers' names are officially being released today, we still request that the media respect the families' privacy. No interviews will be provided. The police shooting is still being investigated."
