DETROIT (WXYZ) - A family in southwest Detroit is mourning the loss of a woman who was gunned down in front of her own home.
The shooting happened in the 4700 block of Braden Street just north of Michigan Avenue Sunday evening.
Witnesses say the man who shot the 55-year-old woman was her husband. Police are not confirming the relationship, but say this was likely a domestic dispute that escalated quickly.
Neighbors tell 7 Action News they heard several gunshots, then saw the victim lying in front of her home.
Immediately after the shooting, police say the 45-year-old suspect took off in the victim's car, but they were able to track him down and arrest him just a few miles away.
We're told the suspect could be arraigned in the coming days.
Police also have the weapon they believe he used to shoot the victim.
Neighbors tell us there were reports of problems at the home several weeks before, and that police paid a visit to the home.
Right now, police are investigating what exactly led to the shooting.
