(WXYZ) - Police are looking for a Detroit man after his dad's body and casket went missing from a cemetery on Monday.
Sources tell Action News funeral services were held for 93-year-old man on Saturday. The body was to be buried on Sunday, but rainy weather kept workers from digging the plot at the Gethsemane Cemetery.
The body and casket were stored in the mausoleum for protection. On Monday, when workers returned to complete the burial, they discovered the body was missing.
Police sources say they believe the man's 48-year-old son was likely involved with the disappearance. Investigators are searching for him along with a van and truck that might've been used to take the body.
Action News has learned the names of both the father and son, but are withholding them pending any criminal charges. In some cases, disinterment of a body is a crime. At this time, no charges have been filed.
