Police search for missing child taken by noncustodial mother
(WXYZ) - The Detroit Police Department is asking for the public's assistance to locate a missing 5-year-old who was allegedly abducted by her mother on Monday.
Police say Zoie Jackson was picked up from a Detroit school in the 12600 block of Burt Road by her mother Carmela Jackson.
Jackson does not have custody of Zoie and has been diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Bi-Polar disorder and postpartum depression.
Police believe they may be headed out of the state, possibly toward Elkhart, Indiana.
Zoie is described as 4 feet tall and about 62 pounds with braided, shoulder-length hair. She was last seen wearing a red shirt, black pants and black boots with fur around the top.
Carmela is described as 5 foot 6 inches and about 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
The pair is believed to be in a black 2002 Lexus Crossover truck with license plate number CMR0252.
Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is asked to call police.
