COMMERCE TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) - When complications from cancer threatened to ruin the dreams of one couple, a local hospital stepped in.
The Detroit Medical Center Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital hosted a wedding for cancer patient Eric Thomas and his new bride Lindsey.
The couple had planned to marry in 2015, but they moved up the date when Thomas was diagnosed with cancer.
When his condition worsened and Thomas was admitted to the hospital, the couple thought they would miss their wedding ceremony and celebration.
Because Thomas was not able leave the hospital, DMC decided to host a wedding for the couple on April 26, the day they had planned to get married.
Eric and Lindsey were wed at 6 p.m. in the hospital's Orchard Lobby. Family members, friends and hospital staff were able to attend.
The hospital gift shop florist and food service company contributed to the special wedding.
