Donate excess Halloween candy to our troops today

(WXYZ) - It's a win-win-win situation. Trick-or-treaters can donate their excess candy for cash or prizes, our troops get some sweet treats and parents get fewer kids running around on sugar highs!

Several ‘candy buybacks' are happening around Metro Detroit today. Here are a few that we know about:

Southfield Family Dental Center, 18800 West 10 Mile Road, Southfield

  • 3 p.m.-7 p.m.
  • Kids can exchange candy for gifts and prizes, including movie tickets, DVD's, posters, T-shirts, hats, etc.
  • All the candy collected will be donated to Operation Gratitude

Dr. Carl Papa's & Dr. Eric Haskins office

  • 21055 12 Mile Rd., Roseville
  • 4 p.m.-7 p.m.
  • Kids can get $1 per pound of candy (up to 5 pounds)
  • All donated candy will be turned over to the Michigan Military Moms

Stonehouse Family Dental

  • 850 S. Ortonville Road, Ortonville
  • 2 p.m.-6 p.m.
  • Kids will receive $1 per pound of candy
  • The treats will be shipped to our troops overseas
