It was a dicey commute for drivers who had to deal with a wintry mix during their morning drives.
(WXYZ) - The wintry mix that hit Metro Detroit is responsible for knocking out power to thousands of DTE Energy customers.
DTE says 22,000 homes and businesses were without electricity on Monday morning due to the weather conditions. There are currently fewer than 1,000 customers without power as of 3:40 p.m. on Monday.
DTE says some of the outages are in Waterford Township where a substation suffered a malfunction. The remainder of the outages are scattered throughout metro Detroit.
DTE says more than 905 of the customers that were affected by bad weather will be restored by the end of Monday. That includes schools.
