(WXYZ) - Politics can be contentious before, during and after the voting.
That's still the case in the Detroit Mayoral recount still being done by the Wayne County Board of Canvassers.
Former Candidate Tom Barrow is challenging hundreds of ballots case for Mike Duggan who ran as a write-in candidate.
The Canvassers brought in a handwriting expert who looked at 19 sample ballots and found they were not cast by the same voter. Butch Hollowell in the Duggan Campaign told the board the recount needs to be finished so they can move forward to the November election.
The deadline for the Canvassers is September 30.
Mike Duggan was the top vote getter in the primary and will face Benny Napoleon on the November 5th ballot.
